MIRA turns supported work activity into time entries that a timekeeper can inspect, edit, and release. This walkthrough follows the actual product demonstration: open the dashboard, examine the activity behind an entry, check the narrative and billing fields, and confirm the release status.
The screenshots come from MATTEROOM's official iManage x MIRA Tutorial, published July 15, 2026. They show demonstration data and the interface recorded in that video. Your firm's configuration and current screen layout may differ.

Start with the day's timekeeping view
At 2:30 in the tutorial, MIRA is open within Outlook. Colored cards distinguish timekeeping states, while an activity strip and client/matter charts provide context for the day.
Use this view to decide where review needs to begin. A day with unreleased entries calls for a different action from a day with work that has not yet been turned into entries. The visible totals are examples from the demonstration, rather than a measure of what another firm will recover or bill.
The dashboard gives an overview. The entry and its supporting activity provide the detail needed to check the work.
Inspect the activity behind a time entry
At 2:36, grouped time entries appear beside the activity timeline and suggested entries. This is the useful connection between a record of work and the entry that describes it.
Start with a task you recognize. Compare the activity with your recollection of the work, the date, and the matter. If a document, message, or meeting gives only partial context, resolve the uncertainty before accepting the draft description. Several signals can relate to one task, and a single application can contain work for several matters.
The timeline shown in this tutorial includes several activity types. It should not be read as proof that every visible record came from iManage. For the broader capture model, see passive time capture.

Check the draft narrative and entry fields
The Time Entry dialog at 2:39 brings the draft into a focused review view. The demonstration shows a description, duration, billable selection, task and activity codes, and a Save control.
Read the description as someone outside the work session would read it. It should explain the work actually performed with enough context to make sense to its intended audience. Remove unsupported detail, correct the matter where necessary, and keep sensitive information appropriate to the description's audience.
Entry detail | What to establish before saving |
Client and matter | The entry belongs to the engagement on which the work was performed. |
Date and duration | The entry reflects the work performed and does not count the same period twice. |
Narrative | The description is accurate, understandable, and appropriate to share. |
Billable selection | The treatment matches the work and the firm's applicable instructions. |
Task and activity codes | The selected codes describe the task under the code set used for that matter. |
These are review questions for the timekeeper. The particular codes and example duration visible in the recording are not defaults to copy into another entry.

Distinguish saving from releasing
The tutorial shows both a draft-editing step and a later release step. Treat them as separate points in the workflow: check and save the entry, then release it when it is ready under the firm's process.
At 2:46, some entries are marked Ready to Release while another is already Released. The screen also shows a Release All control. Before using a batch action, establish that every entry included in the action has been checked.
What you see in the demo | What to do next |
An entry open for editing | Check its fields and save the intended changes. |
Ready to Release | Confirm that review is complete before release. |
Released | Check that the intended entries have changed status, then follow the firm's downstream process. |
The recording demonstrates timekeeper review and release. A separate manager or billing-team approval process should be explained during your firm's onboarding if one applies.
Release checked entries and confirm their status
At 2:49, the visible entries carry the green Released status. This gives the timekeeper a concrete point to check after the release action.
Confirm the entries you intended to release and compare the resulting status with the earlier view. If an entry remains unfinished or uncertain, resolve it through the firm's agreed review process rather than assuming the day is complete because other entries were released.
A released entry is one stage in timekeeping. It does not by itself establish that a financial system accepted the record, that an invoice was issued, or that a client paid it. The MIRA FAQ identifies supported billing connections; ask to see the configured destination and its acceptance checks for your firm.

Turn the demonstration into a practical review session
The most useful follow-up is to repeat the sequence with a small set of approved test records that resembles your workday. Start with a task the timekeeper can explain, include an ambiguous record, and check the outcome after release.
During that session:
Find the expected activity and confirm its date and context.
Compare the proposed entry with the actual work.
Correct the narrative and required fields.
Resolve uncertainty before release.
Check the release status and the separate billing destination.
Record where the reviewer needed help. That feedback is more useful for onboarding than asking whether the demonstration looked straightforward. For capture and review inside Microsoft's collaboration environment, continue to the Teams time-tracking guide.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does MIRA capture work and bill it automatically?
This walkthrough demonstrates activity review, editable entries, and a deliberate release step. Captured activity still needs to be checked for the work, matter, duration, narrative, and billing treatment.
Can a timekeeper edit a draft narrative?
Yes. The official tutorial shows an editable description in the Time Entry dialog at 2:39, alongside other entry fields and a Save control.
Does Released mean the client has been invoiced?
Released is the time-entry status visible in the tutorial. Confirm downstream acceptance, invoicing, and collection separately in the firm's billing workflow.
Are these screenshots from the current production interface?
They are exact frames from the official tutorial published July 15, 2026. They illustrate the recorded workflow; screen layout, labels, and configuration may change.
